group guided trips

A group guided trip is for those who enjoy the camaraderie of a group, want to meet other like-minded walkers or prefer to walk with knowledgeable guides.

There are touring trips where we travel by mini bus, stopping for great walks along the way. There are well-known long distance walking tracks which where you can clock up some serious miles. And there are “centre-based” trips, where we explore the area from our central accommodation base.

At night we stay in comfortable accommodations and enjoy good food and convivial company. There’s no camping on an Auswalk and there’s always a wine list nearby!

Whichever trip you choose, you’ll visit the “must see” places and also get far off-the-beaten track to places that few people have heard of and even fewer have visited. Let us share these special gems with you – you’ll enjoy a unique, varied, memorable and fun walking holiday.

Who’ll be in the group?

People who share a common interest in travelling off the standard tourist route and exploring new areas on foot. They include Australians and people from other countries. Some are experienced walkers, some first-timers. Some come alone, some with a partner, some with a group of friends. They can be of any age but all are active, well educated, well travelled people who enjoy meeting other like-minded walkers and walking with knowledgeable guides. And all enjoy the convivial atmosphere of an interesting group. Come with a friend or come alone – you’ll soon make friends.

Two guides gives you choices

Auswalk’s group guided trips operate with two guides, giving you choices along the way. On some days we will offer the choice of an easier walk at a relaxed pace and a more challenging option. You can mix and match from day to day. Having two guides also allows us to offer some one-way walks so you don’t have to retrace your route. Check out some of our fantastic guides.

You’ll travel in comfort

Travel in modern, well-maintained, air conditioned buses. There are always a few spare seats so there’s room to spread out and store day packs and other hand luggage. Plus there’s a trailer for suitcases etc.

You’ll sleep and eat well

We choose comfortable accommodations in quiet locations and look for quality beds (usually queen sized), ensuite bathrooms (except at lighthouses), good food and welcoming hosts. Typical accommodation varies from area to area but could include boutique inns, guesthouses, hotels, small motels, cottages, resorts and wilderness retreats. We pride ourselves on providing great food and most meals are included in the holiday package. For more info check out our accommodation and meals page. There are images of typical properties we stay at as well as info on single rooms.

Where do the trips go?

We cover the country with something that’s just perfect for every time of year. There are islands, mountains, rainforests, alps, coastlines, the outback, world heritage areas and more.

Is there time for sightseeing?

On some trips we include visits to major attractions and cultural experiences. We always factor in some time to explore the area on your own or to simply put your feet up and relax.

Can you arrange private trips?

Yes, we can arrange something special for your group. We can also offer private guiding for groups as small as one person.
