group guided walking holidays

Guided group walking holidays are a lot of fun. There are touring trips where we travel by mini bus, stopping for great walks along the way. There are well-known long distance walking tracks which where you can clock up some serious miles. And there are "centre-based" trips, where we explore the area from our central accommodation base.

At night we stay in comfortable accommodations and enjoy good food and convivial company. There's no camping on an Auswalk and there's always a wine list nearby!

Whichever trip you choose, you'll visit the “must see” places and also get far off-the-beaten track to places that few people have heard of and even fewer have visited. Let us share these special gems with you - you’ll enjoy a unique, varied, memorable and fun walking holiday.

Who else will be in the group?
People who share a common interest in travelling off the standard tourist route and exploring new areas on foot. They include Australians and people from other countries. Some are experienced walkers, some first-timers. Some come alone, some with a partner, some with a group of friends. They can be of any age but all are active, well educated, well travelled people who enjoy meeting other like-minded walkers and walking with knowledgeable guides. And all enjoy the convivial atmosphere of an interesting group. Come with a friend or come alone - you'll soon make friends.

You'll travel in comfort
Travel in modern, well-maintained, air conditioned buses. There are always a few spare seats so there's room to spread out and store day packs and other hand luggage. Plus there's a trailer for suitcases etc.

Two guides gives you choices
Auswalk's group guided trips operate with two guides, giving you choices. On some days we will offer the choice of an easier walk at a relaxed pace and a more challenging option. You can mix and match from day to day. Having two guides also allows us to offer some one-way walks so you don't have to retrace your route. Check out some of our guides.

Is there time for sightseeing as well?
Yes, we include visits to major attractions, cultural experiences as well as some time to explore the area on your own or to simply put your feet up and relax.

What is the accommodation and food like?
We choose clean, comfortable accommodations in quiet locations and look for quality beds (usually queen sized), ensuite bathrooms (except at lighthouses), good food and welcoming hosts. Typical accommodation varies from area to area but could include boutique inns, guesthouses, hotels, motels, resorts and wilderness retreats. Most meals are included - occasionally a meal is not included because there are excellent restaurants nearby for you to try. For more info check out our accommodation and meals page. There are images of typical properties we stay at as well as info on the availability of single rooms.

Should I choose a guided or self-guided holiday?
Guided trips are ideal for meeting new people and enjoying the camaraderie of a group. People traveling alone should join a guided trip as there is a minimum of two people required to do a Self-Guided walk. Self-Guided trips are great for independent people who prefer to choose their own walking companions and set their own pace.

Can you arrange a special trip for my family or group of friends?
Yes - we can arrange something to suit your group. We can also offer private guiding for groups as small as one person. Contact us for a quote.

guided inn-to-inn walks

Auswalk also offers guided INN-to-INN walks. They are identical to the Self-Guided INN-to-INN holidays, with the addition of a guide. They operate on demand for a minimum of two people booking together. You may be the only people in the group or it is possible that others may book on the same date.

Am I fit enough?
Each of these trips is graded. Look at the Walk Gradings and choose a trip that suits your ability and fitness level. As you will be forming your own group of two or more people, your guide will be able to adjust the itinerary to suit your level of fitness.

How many people will be in the group?
These trips operate on demand. We guarantee to operate these trips for a minimum of two people booking together. There is a good chance that you will be the only participants, however there may be other people on the trip as well.

What if I'm travelling alone?
If you want to do an INN-to-INN guided trip you could consider joining one of our group tours that offer continuous long distance walking routes eg. The Cape to Cape Track, Gold Coast Hinterland Walk, Great Ocean Walk and Great South West Walk.

You can also ask us for a quote to do a privately guided trip.

Or you could use our "Find a Walking Companion Service" and see if you can find someone to go with.
