what auswalkers think
Mike Farrell, March 2012 - VIC Fifteen club members enjoyed 5 days hiking in the snowy mountains organised by Glenda with the help of AUSWALK. We were joined by a group of eight "lads" from Queensland, who had met doing the Kokoda trail together. This was their annual group get together. We stayed in Jindabyne the first night and subsequently in Guthega, Charlotte Pass and Thredbo alpine villages. Accomodation was first rate with a full English breakfast each morning , a lunch pack, and then a gourmet dinner in the evening.
We walked approximately 15 kilometres each day taking in the Blue Cow mountain, Perisher and Carruthers peak. The fourth night it poured all night and we awoke to a gale - the "Kokodamites" announced they were taking a taxi that day, but to a man (& a woman) the Ballarati stuck to the plan to climb Mount Koscioszko that day in the pouring rain: The Kokodamites were amazed at such bravado and with stiff upper-lips we set off. What heroes !! The Gods rewarded us and the rain stopped. We reached Seaman's hut about three-quarters of the way up when again it blew a veritable gale such that by the time we got to the top, we were half-frozen. With minimal visibility we descended via the chairlift to Thredbo and a hot shower .The next day was our last and most of us scaled Kosciuszko again, though this time in clear weather with views into Victoria. Terrific !!
What a holiday - the scenery was stunning with wonderful alpine views and occasional stands of ancient snow gums, twisted and gnarled from the harsh conditions. What a change from the stringybark forest we normally love to endure. Some enjoyed the flora - the flowers, prehistoric cyclads, and mosses. For me it was the wildlife - we saw wild brumbies, a blue-tongues lizard and a tiny marsupial mouse that the rangers had caught in a trap.
We had a party on the last night with a wonderful meal put together by Sue, Glenda and Carmel. The Kokodamites provided the entertainment with a speech, singing and much laddish joshing.
Thank you Glenda!
Bruce & Sandra Champion, February 2012 - TAS Excellent track notes and support literature, great accommodation and inn to inn transport; the Auswalk team look after you all the way.
Lin Bates, March 2012 - QLD Firstly I enjoyed my communication with the Auswalk team prior to the walk. The emails from you team were so friendly and helpful that i was quite relaxed. Thank you!!!
On the walk - what can I say......It was fantastic, tremendous, fabulous, wonderful, challenging and simply out of this world!!!!! I loved it.!!! Lisa & Marie were the greatest. If these two ladies are typical of yours guides you must have the best staff in the world!!!!! I would like to say it is the best walk I have ever done but i guess each walk has its own joys. However I would highly recommend this walk to absolutely everyone I know. The accommodation and dining was great, the fact that you had the option to pull out at certain spots was fanulous!! Would I do another walk with Auswalk - YOU BET!!! And I'm an oldie!!
I am booked up for the rest of the year but will con someone into planning another walk with me in 2013.
Thanks again Auswalk I will treasure the memories of this walk forever.
Brian & Yolan Barker, April 2012 - QLD We were dropped off at Wragges Creek to start our walk. It was a beautiful day with clear blue skies and around 25 degrees. Four days later we arrived at our destination in Thredbo after an exhilarating walk up Mt Kosciuszko in near freezing temperatures with very high winds. We will never forget our last day in Thredbo - watching the snow fall all around us whilst we relaxed with a glass of wine - Priceless and unforgettable. Thank you Auswalk for such a wonderful holiday!
Bruce Champion, November 2011 - TAS Many thanks to you all. Without your hard work we would not have been able to experience this area of Australia in such an enjoyable way.
Jeanette & Pat Cotterill, December 2011 - ACT Another great experience hiking with Auswalk! The wildflowers in summer are breathtaking and we were constantly amazed by their beauty and diversity. Auswalk made sure every detail was covered, from meals to transport and lift tickets and our walking notes meant we were never lost! The friendliness (and great catering) of our accommodation hosts really enhanced the experience. Thanks again Auswalk.
Kath Carter, December 2011 - SA Meals and accommodation were great - probably above what i expected.
David & Mary Wright, January 2012 - VIC We thought the food was first class in each location - dinner, lunch and breakfast - no complaints at all - in fact only praise. The accommodation in each place was also very good. Rooms were comfortable; places were easy to find and the hospitality excellent.
Roger Parker, March 2012 - USAThe Auswalk self-guided trip along the Great Ocean walk was fantastic. Magnificent coastline and bush scenery. The accommodation was excellent and all services well coordinated.
Mathy & Andrew Mezey, March 2012 - USAThe accommodations were exceptional. We really appreciated their willingness to help us deal with our wet clothes. The two dinners we had in the B&Bs were wonderful.
Jack & Andrea Holland, March 2012 - ACT The accommodation, meals, lunches etc were all very good and very much appreciated, in particular everyone was well informed and easily coped with Andrea's vegetarian preference.
Debbie Broom, March 2012 - TAS All the chosen B&B accommodations were excellent and the food provided was fantastic. No complaints at all.
Garry Weegink, March 2012 - QLD Absolutely loved it, and it was up to expectations. The views were spectacular, each day was different, and the facilities meals made the evenings enjoyable and relaxing.
Juliana Teo, January 2012 - NSW Had a great time in the mountains with lovely surrounds, greats guides, good food and company. Always good to get away from the rat race and bureaucrats.
Carol Masel, December 2011 - QLD Francesca and I thoroughly enjoyed the walking holiday. I thought your walking notes were very thorough and the whole week went along smoothly - accomodation, hosts, transport, walking, meals (where provided) etc.
Francesca (who is only 12 years old) and I easily managed the walking - the gradients were much less than I had envisaged on reading the notes. We both completed the entire walk and I did about another 18km of walking on our "rest" day at Dinner Plain. Great weather for walking.
Yes! I would definitely be interested in doing another holiday with your company.
