Auswalk’s Blue Mountains Weekender is a short, guided inn to inn walking holiday. You walk through the National Park between two delightful accommodations. We move your luggage for you while you are out walking. You need to form your own group of two or more people (although we can take solo travellers for an additional fee).
This short holiday makes a refreshing break from the rigors of city life. The walking incorporates two of the most impressive Blue Mountains bushwalks, which have always been popular since their construction in the early 1900′s. Any steps or ladders along the way are modern and solid: long gone are the days of long rickety wooden ladders with widely spaced rungs and a few of them missing anyhow! Our guides for this trek are locals, with an interest in the area’s local history, and plenty of fascinating stories to share. They also know the track system and can make changes if needed.
On this weekend getaway, you’ll descend the Giant Stairway and get close enough to touch the sisters. And there’s a whole lot more waiting to be discovered on foot in this prestigious World Heritage Area. In Waterfall Valley, expect to see cascading waterfalls with hanging swamps growing out of the cliffs. Hike into the depths of stunning canyons where forest giants tower overhead and the only sounds are flowing water, bird song and the wind in the trees. Hike through eucalyptus forests and learn how the evocative blue haze is produced, giving the mountains their name. Follow Mid Cliff Walk to the 2-tiered Wentworth Falls, then an invigorating trek to the top. Handrails, ladders and airy lookouts provide a birds-eye view over the vast forests of the remote Jamison Valley.
